Andrea was born on February ’86 and raised in Palermo.\u00a0 Awarded a\u00a0Bachelor degree\u00a0in Industrial Design, he decided to move to Milan with other fellow students, enrolling at the Master’s degree (Product Design for Innovation) at the Politecnico di Milano. In December 2012 he graduated\u00a0 with a thesis, which aims to combine two great passions: music and design. With this thesis he has the opportunity to work in an important field where coexist music and design. The most meaningful professional partnership takes place with Noah guitars, a company that helps him during the development of the thesis project, and with which builds the foundation for a new concept of acoustic guitar, with a new material: aluminum. The thesis project is just the first step in a long way project. Today he is dedicating himself to the research and analysis to identifying new ways of understanding and thinking about the\u00a0 world musical instruments.<\/em>
\nrEvolution.\u00a0Material metamorphosis of a sounding board for acoustic guitar<\/strong>
\nThe project idea born from cooperation with Noahguitars, a company in Milan that realizes electric guitars with aluminum,using a CNC milling machine for the guitar’s body.
\nThe common will is to create a new way to thinking about acoustic guitar. This research thesis has as ultimate goal,to realize a concept resulting from a material metamorphosis, from wood to alluminum.
\nThe design object is an acoustic guitar soundboard. The metamorphosis has been divided in three phases: A,B,C.
\n“Metamorphosis A” explains the way in which the linings are incorporated in the sounding board.
\n“Metamorhposis B”consists of the transposition of the concept of grain in wood in a material such as aluminum.
\n“Metamorphosis C” concerns the structural point of view, and portrayed the bracing role in a hypothetical soundboard made of aluminum.
\nRevolution<\/em>\u00a0is a word game that adds two important concepts: revolution and evolution. The revolution is given by material Metamorphosis to aluminum. The evolution is given by research and from the design behind the three stages of processing of the concept. The way I see it is that only the union of these two spects can give an innovation as a result.<\/p>\n

Andrea \u00e8 nato a Palermo nel Febbraio del 1986. Ottenuto il titolo di “dottore in disegno Industriale”, decide di trasferirsi a Milano con alcuni compagni di corso del triennio per specializzarsi nel settore iscrivendosi al corso di laurea specialistica magistrale del Politecnico di Milano in Design del Prodotto per l\u2019innovazione.\u00a0Nel Dicembre 2012\u00a0 si laurea\u00a0 con una tesi che ha l’obiettivo di unire due grandi passioni: la musica e il Design.\u00a0In occasione della tesi ha l’opportunit\u00e0 di collaborare con alcune realt\u00e0 importanti dove musica\u00a0 e progettazione convivono. La collaborazione pi\u00f9 significativa avviene con la Noah guitars, azienda che lo supporta durante lo sviluppo del progetto di tesi, e con la quale getta le basi per una nuova idea di chitarra acustica, con un nuovo materiale: l’alluminio. Il progetto di tesi \u00e8 soltanto il primo passo di un progetto potenzialmente lungo una vita. Oggi si sta dedicando alla fase di ricerca e di analisi in funzione dell’individuazione di nuovi modi di intendere e pensare il mondo degli strumenti musicali.<\/em><\/p>\n

rEvolution.\u00a0Metamorfosi materica di una tavola armonica per chitarra acustica<\/strong><\/p>\n

L\u2019idea di progetto nasce dalla collaborazione con Noahguitars, azienda di Milano che realizza chitarre elettriche e bassi in alluminio, sfruttando una fresa a controllo numerico per il corpo. La volont\u00e0 comune era quella di ipotizzare e iniziare a dar corpo ad un nuovo modo di pensare la chitarra acustica. Questa tesi di ricerca ha come fine ultimo quello di realizzare un concept conseguente ad una metamorfosi materica, partendo dal legno (materiale primario utilizzato per gli strumenti a corda) per arrivare all\u2019alluminio.\u00a0L\u2019oggetto di progettazione \u00e8 la tavola armonica di una chitarra acustica. La metamorfosi in questione \u00e8 stata suddivisa in tre fasi, che, per comodit\u00e0 ,chiameremo A,B,C. La metamorfosi A racconta il modo in cui le controfasce vengono inglobate nella tavola armonica.<\/p>\n

La Metamorfosi B consiste nella trasposizione del concetto di venatura nel legno in un materiale come l\u2019alluminio.<\/p>\n

La Metamorfosi C riguarda il punto di vista strutturale, e ritratta il ruolo dell\u2019incatenatura in una ipotetica tavola armonica in alluminio.<\/p>\n

rEvolution<\/em>\u00a0\u00e8 un gioco di parole che somma due importanti concetti: rivoluzione ed evoluzione. La rivoluzione \u00e8 data dalla metamorfosi materica in alluminio. L\u2019evoluzione \u00e8 data dalla ricerca e dalla progettazione che sta dietro le tre fasi di elaborazione del concept. A mio modo di vedere \u00e8 proprio l\u2019unione di questi due aspetti che porta come come risultato all\u2019innovazione.<\/p>\n
