{"id":1124,"date":"2012-12-08T11:59:38","date_gmt":"2012-12-08T11:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/padjournal.net\/?p=1124"},"modified":"2022-04-13T17:34:31","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T15:34:31","slug":"guy-mishaly-design-studio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.padjournal.net\/new\/guy-mishaly-design-studio\/","title":{"rendered":"Guy Mishaly design studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:en-->[catlist name=start-up-design numberposts=-1]<br \/>\n<em>Owner:<\/em> Guy Mishaly<br \/>\n<em>Brand\/start up name:<\/em> Guy Mishaly design studio<br \/>\n<em>Product<\/em>: Blast chair by explosion.<br \/>\n<em>When and how did the project originate?<\/em> The studio was established 1 year ago, right after I graduated the product design studies at the Bezalel Academy of arts and design, in Jerusalem, Israel.\u2028The studio focuses on designing furniture, light fixtures, and space for companies and private consumers.<br \/>\nBlast chairs by explosion was my graduation project at the Bezalel Institute.\u2028The starting point to this project was how to navigate energy, creating by manipulating energy that is naturally used to harm and destroy.\u2028Another goal was to invent a system that in the same way of use will always provide different results.\u2028All of the above got me to this project, where I create basic boxes and cylinders from 1mm of steel sheet metal and by locating explosives (looks like electric cables, filled up with explosive material) around them in specific locations and pushing a button that detonates the explosive material, the metal rips and folds into a stool. No material disappears or blows away. The weight of the box before the explosion and the weight of the stool that comes out are the same. The box becomes a stool with seat and legs by the explosion itself and there is nothing done to it after. That\u2019s the way it comes out. There will never be 2 stools that are identical.<br \/>\n<em>How much did you invest to start the company?<\/em> Getting into such a project required a beginning amount of 4000 Euros.<br \/>\n<em>Who invested the money?<\/em> Myself<br \/>\n<em>How far have you gone with the project?<\/em> Blast was made in a small series of 12 pieces.<br \/>\n<em>When did you understand that the project had overcome the ideational phase and had become a product?<\/em>\u00a0The\u00a0research was the main part of the project. When the first chair came out by the correct recipe after months of negative results and dozens of explosions, that\u2019s when<br \/>\n<em>Has there been a moment when you wanted to give up?<\/em>\u00a0 I realized I reached the product-the goal I was aiming for.\u2028 Sitting on the first chair made me realize that in the art &amp; design world, there is no such thing as \u201cnot possible\u201d.<br \/>\n<a href=\"www.guymishaly.com\">www.guymishaly.com<\/a><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/vimeo.com\/26200233<!--:--><!--:it-->[catlist name=start-up-design numberposts=-1]<br \/>\n<em>Nome titolare:<\/em> Guy Mishaly<br \/>\n<em>Nome brand\/start up:<\/em> Guy Mishaly design studio<br \/>\n<em>Cosa produce:<\/em> Blast chair by explosion.<br \/>\n<em>Tipo di organizzazione:<\/em> Studio di design, fondato nel 2011, produzione in serie limitata.<br \/>\n<em>Quando e come \u00e8 stato avviata l\u2019impresa?<\/em> La sedia Blast \u00e8 stata il mio progetto di tesi. Il punto di partenza di questo progetto era come canalizzare l\u2019energia che viene solitamente usata come energia distruttiva. Un altro obiettivo era di inventare un sistema che, pur essendo lo stesso, fornisse sempre risultati diversi. Per questo ho creato delle strutture cilindriche dello spessore di 1 mm di acciaio, poi, posizionandovi dell\u2019esplosivo, in luoghi ben definiti, attraverso fili e detonatore a distanza, l\u2019acciaio esplodendo si piega, formando uno sgabello, con nessuno spreco di metallo. La struttura esplosa si trasforma in sgabello con lo stesso peso che aveva il cilindro pre-esploso, non si fa nessuna lavorazione aggiuntiva ed\u00a0 ogni sgabello con le gambe \u00e8 un pezzo unico, cio\u00e8 non ce ne sono due che risultino esattamente uguali.<br \/>\n<em>Che investimento \u00e8 servito per avviare l\u2019impresa?<\/em> 4.000 Euro.<br \/>\n<em>Chi ha investito?<\/em>\u00a0E\u2019 stato un auto-finanziamento.<br \/>\n<em>A che punto si trova il progetto?<\/em> Sono stati prodotti 12 sgabelli.<br \/>\n<em>Quando hai sentito che il progetto aveva superato la fase dell\u2019idea per\u00a0divenire un prodotto?<\/em>\u00a0Dopo mesi di tentativi e decine di esplosioni mal riuscite \u00e8 apparso il primo sgabello coretto, allora ho capito che avevo trovato la \u201cricetta\u201d giusta.<br \/>\n<em>C&#8217;\u00e8 stato un momento in cui volevi lasciare tutto?<\/em> Quando mi sono seduto sul primo sgabello ho capito che nel mondo dell&#8217;arte e del design non esiste l&#8217;impossibile.<br \/>\n<a href=\"www.guymishaly.com\">www.guymishaly.com<\/a><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/vimeo.com\/26200233<!--:--><!--:ca--><!--:--><!--:hr--><!--:--><!--:tr--><!--:--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[catlist name=start-up-design numberposts=-1] Owner: Guy Mishaly Brand\/start up name: Guy Mishaly design studio Product: Blast chair by explosion.
